I put the hole in my dry core with a soldering gun. It came out a little ragged, but I carefully made it just barely big enough to get the p-valve through, and it sealed fine. I cut the Lycra with scissors, and again, made the hole just BARELY big enough to stretch around the p-valve, and that seems to have worked well, too.
