G250 & g200b

That being said I’m aware there are MANY threads on g250 so I apologize. My question is what year might my g250 be(my guess is a 92-99 version)? I recently bought used with a mk10. I also bought a g200b mk15 about 6 months ago. It has a surf blue g250 cover on it. The previous owner worked at Atlanta aquarium as a diver in the tanks. She died sadly and her mother was selling her gear. So I couldn’t ask more info on it. I have the receipt that says g200b when it was purchased but I believe it can have the same or similar internals as the g250 (minus the adjustment knob). It has a metal barrel as shown in the picture. I haven’t serviced either of these so I don’t know anything beyond looking at the barrel. I have watched a video that I found on another thread here about servicing these regs and I would love to learn. I will need to buy service kits. After watching the video and reading on here the only part I’m caught up on is setting breaking pressure (I believe is what it’s called) I don’t have gauges/tools to do that but would consider the investment because I would like to service my other sp regs myself also. Any help is appreciated!!!

Check serial number on the rim/edge under mouthpiece, middle two numbers (4th and 5th) are the year it was made. My guess is 91-92.

It is a 91’ wow!!! Thanks! I never noticed those numbers before. Now have to check the rest of sp regs lol
 
The VDH vid goes over setting cracking pressure. Just need a flathead screwdriver and perhaps a sink full of water if you want to verify/measure approx. pressure. If you turn the orifice in just past (1/12th of a turn or so) where it stops leaking you’re usually good to go, may need to tighten a bit once seat breaks in later. Takes a bit longer without the inline tool but barely. You will want at least a cheap gauge to check 1st stage IP however. Lots of experts on this forum will point you in the right direction as far as getting kits, manuals, etc. I suggest contacting @buddhasummer for kits as he is about to put in another order soon.
 
You have a g250 and a g200 (maybe "b") with a g250 "hot colors" faceplate.

Am I correct in thinking that the g200b, if serviced correctly, is the same quality as g250 but without adjustment knob? I bought g200b mk15 and a full kit of woman’s gear for $20 or so. Is it worth keeping, as a safety second on a mk25 g250? Or is the r295 better(have one of those laying around)? Also have a s600/a700bt mk25 evo bt reg set. Maybe a700/g250 and a s600/(better of the 2)... input?

What is the gauge called to check lp? 135 +/- 10?
 
interestingly enough, you could tune the g200b real nice, and use it as a primary, and use the g250 as a second as you can use the external adjustment to control ff, but have it perform nicely when needed.

I like the g200b, but I do like the g250 a little more.

Both are nice seconds.
