I just started filling my tanks with my Coltri M6CH. I have noticed that if I run it wide open (like my riding lwan mower) it actually seems to fill slower than if I cut it back just a bit.

I have read everything I can find on the compressor, and can not find any actual reccomendations. Thought it would be good to come here and ask what do you guys do?

I run my Stewart Warner at 3,000 rpm. The engine I have on it will do 3,600 rpm, falling to about 3,300 rpm at 3,500 psi, but it does not fill 10% faster and the compressor is really not intended to go that fast.

My davey diesel can run up to 2000 rpm. I usually run it at 16-1700 rpm. That speed it seem to sound smoother. It does seem to pump proportionally more at the higher rpm.

Appreciate the responses. I did go back through the manual, and in the specs it states the compressor is designed to run at 2800 rpm. I was surprised to notice that the digital hour metter becomes a tachometer while the engine is running. 2800 it is, and that is pretty close to where I had backed it down to before. Sometimes RTFM is not enough ... I have to Re-RTFM.
