Circa 1992:

Cressi sub Maxirondine fins: large, stiff, powerful, well made
U.S. Diver's Monitor 1 dive computer: Buhlmann based algorithm, no gimmicks, no b.s., never gets wiggy, still going strong

Circa 2014:

Deep Sea Supply backplate and wing: a great, minimal, sturdy bpw
Apeks spools: Pricey, but quality.
Halcyon SMB: as above.

3mm soft booties from China for $4
LED flashlight from China for $4
Various regs and consoles and gauges from eBay for very little money that needed a little work
