I'll admit a little bias here; Chris Lowe was one of my thesis committee advisors in grad school. He's going to be writing some posts for Planet Experts; two are up at present:

Swimming with Sharks: An Interview with Dr. Chris Lowe - Planet Experts

Learning How to Share With the Locals - Planet Experts

One thing I like about Chris is that he manages to keep things on an intellectual footing rather than the overly dumbed-down version that comes out when a number of marine scientists deal with the media; in the first post he makes some very good points highlighting how measures we've taken in the past few decades have greatly helped the marine environment, at the cost of damaging the US fishing industry (and as he puts it, "outsourcing" unsustainable fishing practices). Not the sort of nuance you typically see.
