My best friend as his wife want to get there OW certs. They live in Palm Bay right next to Melbourne.

After my limited experience with dixie divers I told them to avoid that place and encourage others to do the same.

I'm looking for recommendations for 1 a shop that carries a large selection of mask so they can get properly fitted, large fin selection would also be good.

Second a good instructor who teaches property ie teaches neutral bouyancy from that start, proper weighting, not skills on knees etc. They are willing to go to west palm, Jupiter or the keys etc. They want to do the OW portion in the ocean rather than a spring or lake.

Any recommendations from you locals?

Aqui water sports.

If they are willing to drive 2-ish hours to Ft. Lauderdale, Ryan @custureri hands down. He is definitely worth the drive. http://getaqui.com

The most experienced and best instructors i have found were with Stuart Scuba (www.stuartscuba.com). They are a full service dive operation and run their own 3 boats. I was so impressed with their operations and instructors i started teaching for them myself!

IMO opinion it is more important to dive with some frequency after Certification is complete.
