Google Talk!!!

Not a big fan of Instant Messengers but Ive been corresponding with my retired folks on Google Talk and it works incredibly well. All thats needed is a Microphone and speakers. Talk to anyone anywhere in the world that has it as well. Best of all its FREE!!!

I thought all the IM networks had that? Yahoo's is free and requires no invitation, works better than Aol's for example. Never tired Msn's or any of the others.

Add a web cam and you have a Jetson's phone with live feed video.

Although its true they offer the same features its been my experience the others are very invasive!!! The last thing I want on my computer is a program I find annoying i.e. popping up all the time, slowing down the boot segment, adding contacts to my e-mail when not asked to etc. I find google to be very NON-Proprietary easy to use and the line quality to be excellent. Dont think Ill opt for the web cam only because I usually look like death warmed over when Im tappin on the keyboard.

Oh, ok - yeah, loading Yahoo messenger can come with a lot of options that one must uncheck as you load, or you'll get all that. I don't use it much; it could have other problems...?

I'm setting up my grandkids with a web cam this weekend so I can web cam with them some. Cannot be as much of a slob as I often at home alone.
