My husband bought me a GoPro Hero 4 Silver for Christmas and I'm finally taking it diving in Belize in a couple of weeks. Can someone advise if I need a red (or other) filter? The manual I have offers some information of white balancing and there was no mentioned of filters, so I wondered if the need for filters exists?

Get a filter. I recommend the Backscatter Flip 3.1. Their bracket allows you to easily switch between filters or macro. Or you could simply buy the filter replacement for under $25 and tape it to the front of the housing.

Most importantly get a grip or tray. It pays to be very steady when taking video. Really steady. Get close and be very steady. Also consider using the 60 frames per second setting in shallow waters.
