You should definitely contemplate the trip up to Carriacou if you are thinking about Grenada.

Unfortunately, a trip to Carriacou was not in our cards last year. Just not enough time with everything else that we wanted to do in a week in Grenada.
We did take the ferry to Carriacou for a day on our first Grenada trip (two weeks in 1996) and loved it. I remember walking from the ferry landing into Hillsborough, having a great roti lunch, a great secluded beach, and a very quiet and serene island. That was before I started diving though.
I would love to get back to Carriacou next time are down that way to enjoy some of the diving as well!
