Hi there!

I bought a traveler BCD a few weeks ago in Australia. Just after a few
dozen of dives, the black protective coat on the back plate is
starting to peel off (see the photo).

The BCD is still working great and I'm now in Europe, so I don't want
to have it service yet, and not be able to use it for weeks.

What could I use as a temporary fix, just to avoid the protective coat
to peel more, or at least slow down the peeling?

Thanks for your advice.

The first thing I would do is email this picture to Halcyon with a description and contact info. You can call them as well. My guess is they will send you a new back pad. It is very easy to remove and replace with basic tools. After you have contacted them and gotten a response I would probably just cut away the loose fabric, as close to the back pad as possible, with a pair of scissors. The fabric on the pad is not important or functional, just esthetic. If for some reason the pad is not under warranty you can purchase another one from a Halcyon dealer. The other option is to remove the pad completely and dive with the backplate only.
