Hello all, this is my first post. Does anyone know if this sonar really works for finding the dive boat or your buddy in turbid waters? Does it show anything but feet (distance to an object)? Thanks in advance for any answers to my question.

Welcome to Scubaboard!

The hand held sonar unit is not something I would take diving even though it says it can be taken underwater. I use one for kayak diving to determine the depths we are anchoring in.

This is the only company that currently builds recreational scuba boat finders so to speak Sport & Scout The Sport model is the only one to get, as the Scout sucks for actual navigation.

If returning to the boat is critical a reel is a better option and in less critical circumstances good navigation skills should bring you pretty close to the anchor if not on top of it.

welcome aboard
