I'm always amazed at how frequently I am told by a new diver that their ears wouldn't equalize but they dove anyways.... or something of that sort, Makes me wonder about the long term impacts of this trauma.

I have had four barotraumas (sp?) in the same ear, and my otolaryngologist says that my ear drum is "impressively scarred" but I am not able to detect any impact on my hearing. Nor do I get excess wax build up, which I understand to be commonly associated with scarred ear drums. I guess I am just lucky.

I sometimes choose to pretend I cannot hear my wife, but that is unconnected.

(What I imagine my ear drum to look like, but
probably doesn't)

I always pretend that I can't hear the DM when he says "hand up your fins".

They can have my fins once I'm in my seat . . .

flots.
