Even funnier it also means someone in a restaurant kitchen who washes dishes and hauls trash. It's what the hapless protagonist of Ratatouille is initially hired as, translated by Disney as "garbage boy".

Hi! Yes it's called a 'plongeur' in french. 'plonger' = 'to dive' means also 'to immerse'. As a the technic for dishes washing. Therefore, the cleaning guy is also called "plongeur". But I think these guy have no certification for that and don't need diveleader :D.
