Home made Fin Spring strap???? Any Ideas

OK, I know the PADI people say not to make your own gear or use makeshift gear. But I think I might go out on a lim a try to make some spring straps for my Mares Volo fins. I know XS Scuba makes them but I dont want to spend $89.95 for somehing that can made from home.

I heard some people talking about this on another forum site. They said they went to Grainger to get supplies. I live fairly close to one.

Anyone here ever attemted a project like this??? Pics would be great....

You can get spring straps for 25 bucks on scuba.com and it should be around 30-40 at your LDS. 90 is crazy.

Only improvement I made was to slip electrical shrink tube on the springs befor I assembled, then slid the tube over the shackles and heated them up. Very clean look.
