Hello All,

If I walk into a shop to buy a PST 104 (low pressure), are there certain numbers on the tank that help me identify it? Model number perhaps? Can anybody with a PST 104 post the numbers engraved on their tanks? Someone tried to sell me a tank last night, but I was convinced it was not a 104.

Thanks.

** EDIT **

Sorry, I should clarify. How do I tell the difference between say a 95, and a 104, if it's the only tank sitting there, meaning I can't compare the size difference.

First visual cue: the tank is galvanized and about 26" tall and 8" in diameter.

Second visual cue: the DOT number ends with 2400 (pressure rating)

Third visual cue: the serial number under the DOT number ends with the PST manufacturere's mark which looks like a P with an enlarged loop and under the loop is a small st

other than using the actual dimensions of the cylinder.

At no point will you find an actual manufacturers stamp indicating volume.

Scuba cylinders are required to have:

Regulating Agency--DOT/TC
Material used to make cylinder--3A, 3AA, 3AL, etc.
Manufacturer--PST
Serial Number
Hydrostat test/retest information
Working Pressure

Some manufacturers/distributors use codes to indicate volume--example: LS on a Luxfer indicates it is a 40 CUFT cylinder.

PST is not one of those manufacturers.

Here are the specs for the PST LP Scuba Cylinders:

MODEL CAPACITY O.D. LENGTH WEIGHT BOUYANCY
LP-80 80 CU.FT. 7.25 24.00 32 LBS -2.0 LBS
LP-95 95 CU.FT. 8.00 24.75 42 LBS -1.0 LBS
LP-104 104 CU.FT. 8.00 26.19 45 LBS -0.7 LBS
LP-120 120 CU.FT. 8.00 29.37 50 LBS -0.4 LBS

Length and weight will help to determine the size of the cylinder.

Good luck,
