When I am reading on a forum here, and someone posts in Chat, I often get an audible bleep. It's distracting and unwanted. I don't want to hear that someone said something to someone else in Chat.

How do I turn that off?

Click on settings, which is above and to the right of the chat window. The first four options allow you to select what you will hear! Thanks to @Wayne S. for the info!

Ok, where is this chat window of which you speak?

There is a scrolling bar across my page that shows chat posts. I'd like to get away from that too.

No idea on the scrolling bar, never seen it and don't see an option for it.

Is it just the chat link on the bar with the red number pop up you are talking about, or do you see actual messages when not in chat?

I see posts. I sent a screen shot to support, but here it is, at the bottom...
