The popular inflatable flag you can buy on Amazon has a design flaw. The flag is falling out of the hole in the inflatable buoy too easily.
I fixed the flag to the end of a 4-ft bamboo stick, tied an empty 1-gal plastic bottle in the middle and a lead 2-pounder to the other end of the stick. This flag holds high above water and is very stable. It is also convenient to carry such flag into water holding it by the stick, as compared with the inflatable which you have to hug around.
