Ideas for diving close to mid-Hudson region?

So we joined the local dive club for a dive at Lake Tagkanic this past Sunday. It was fun. Diving was nothing to write home about, but was only about 45 mins from home and it was a nice place to spend the afternoon. So looking for other ideas in the area. One of the guys mentioned he dove Big Pond in the Catskills. And I've read about diving Candlewood lake in CT. Any ideas for a quick dip and a nice place to picnic afterwards?

Don't know how far Lake George is from you. I go to Hearthston Point State Park frequently. Exit 22 off the Northway.

Thanks, coming up from the Poughkeepsie area. So not too too far! I never think of Lake George. My wife dove it a lot years back. How's access to the water in that park?

If you're going to make the drive up to Lake George, check out the Halfmoon Explorer. Much nicer than diving off Hearthstone, and Captain Frank's a good guy. If you haven't dived on the Radeau at least once, it's worth the trip.

Thanks! We are really looking for shore diving opportunities right now so not tied to any schedules... I do need to find the time to check out some dives further upstate!
