In West Africa, shark fins were found on board several Chinese fishing vessels. West African fishing laws prohibit this type of activity, and each of the vessels were fined 250,00 euros. Among the carnage were the carcasses of hammerheads, and manta rays. Check out number 6 to

In the grand scheme, little can be done. As long as demand exists someone will fill the niche. The risks have to outweigh the reward potential.
