Greetings, I recently recieved my PADI Open Water certification last month from New Horizens and I want to get involved with the local diving community (which I didn't know existed until today :p). How does one go about joining the Kentucky Piranha Patrol?

My name's Dave by the way :p

Hi Dave! Welcome to the KPP, you have already joined!!!

Congrats on your certification! Where did you do your checkouts?

Stick around this forum and I'm sure we will meet and do some diving!

edit, Just out of curiosity, where did you hear about us?

I heard about you guys from the PADI website reading the diving reviews for Kentucky. I also read one of your posts in the welcome forum.

I did my certification dives down in Gainesville at Devil's Den and Blue Grotto. They both have websites if you wanna check them out. They're just springs so they're not really all that exciting and Devil's Den only goes to 40 feet at the maximum, 100 feet for Blue Grotto. They were good places for the certification dives though because they were interesting without being very dangerous, good for beginners.

I'm actually headed to a quarry this weekend to dive with the guys from New Horizons. I think it's the same one you guys always go to. I'll have all the details tomorrow. If anyone is interested I'll let you guys know where we're diving and maybe you can come join us.

I'm shocked, we are on the PADI website?
Our reputation is getting around! I've heard nothing bad about New Horizons
and they are a good bunch. I did my AOW in the same locations in Fla.
Devil's Den is an interesting dive as is Blue Grotto, they can get boring after
a few dives. Krobi and I are going to be out at Falling Rock on Saturday @10,
you did not say which day you were going to be out there. Hopefully we can
meet up!

Your not supposed to discuss initiation rituals with the un-initiated Andy!

Yeah I was reading reviews of Fallen Rock and people said things like "Went diving with the guys from Kentucky Piranha Patrol" which is where I first heard about it. Me and my dive buddy Justin will be there saturday and sunday. I don't know the times as of right now but I'll know tomorrow morning. I would assume sometime in the 10-12 range since we're all driving from Lexington. How will I recognize you guys? I guess I could just go around asking "Are you in the Kentucky Piranha Patrol?" and see who answers lol.

We usually go in over at pebble beach over at the NH shelter.

I'll be driving a white Pontiac mini-van, and I dive white tanks!
