The common k style inflator assembly which puts low pressure air into the bcd may need periodic maintenance to perform properly. There is a special spanner type tool which is normally used to unthread the inflation button assembly.
If you do not have one of these tools, the angle of the spanner slots and the shape of the button can make it difficult to unthread.
An emergency tool can be made from a common 4 prong fork by bending the two center prongs at a 90 degree angle. The two outer still straight prongs can then be used as an emergency spanner wrench to unthread the inflator button assembly. The bent prongs provide clearance for the button, while the straight prongs have the proper angle to fit in the spanner slots.
Just remember to bend the two bent prongs back into proper shape if it is someone else’s fork.
