Can anyone recommend places to go kayak diving in the Keys? Also looking for recommendations on who to rent a kayak from. I will be staying just south of Key Largo.

I'm not an expert on the Keys but to my understanding, the reefs are too far from shore for yak diving.

If you get a nautical chart or charts of entire Keys, and study it, you will see a few patch reefs within a mile or so from shore. Google earth will also help. I have found a few spots I can reach from shore in a yak, they are all in middle and lower Keys. There may be some in upper Keys but I haven't found them. The main reef line for all the Keys, starting from Key Biscayne all the way to Key West, is 5 to 6 miles out. For reasons too numerous to list, you do not want to attempt to get to the outer reef in a yak. So much can go wrong, and if you don't live down here, well, it would be risky. Just sign up with a charter. Least expensive party boat up there last time I checked is the one operated out of Pennekamp park. Conch Republic has a nice operation and they are pros. good luck, have fun, stay safe.
