Yup, they finally did it.

Lions Bay city council just approved amendments to their parks bylaws to include:

"Section 12.1 - No persons except residents of Lions Bay and their visitors may scuba dive at Kelvin Grove beach park. No persons my scuba dive at Lions Bay Beach Park."

You can find the full document here: http://lionsbay.synaxisits.com/Bylaw414ParksRegulations.pdf

So I guess this means we can get fined now if we're caught diving Kelvin. What a pile of crap.

Dear Lions Bay,

You are jerks.

Sincerely,
The Dive Community

What if there was a big enough group that went, would they try and fine everyone, and if that is the case then Kelvin Grove just became a late night dive / really early morning dive

Hi All, talking with a dive buddy tonight and he passed this onto me and I am royally pissed off. We can no longer dive Kelvin Grove. Here is the link to the lastes by-laws that they have just past as of July 21/09. Scroll down to 12.1

Like I said I am mad a hell over this as I love that wall. I hope for a landslide to wipe them off the side of the hill and into the water.

I have a boat and I'm pretty sure there's a couple other locals on SB that do. We should fill them full of divers, anchor in the bay, do a couple dives, have a raucous SI, then go sit on "their" beach and have a blast.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but as long as we're below the high water mark, we're not on private property.

As Les said, they can do SFA about it. Of course, we'd be proving their point as to why they don't want divers there, but hey, the decisions been made and you can't fight City Hall.

Jerks :lotsalove: :mooner:

Sounds like a plan to me... lets go late at night, do a couple dives, give our tank dust caps a GOOD blow dry and then high tail it outta there.

Or perhaps we can try and appeal the bylaw if we promise to play nice and not pee in their parking lot. Anybody know the proper way to fight "the man" on stuff like this?
