Hello all. I have taken my PADI classes here in NC. But havent done my check out dives yet. So I though let go and do my check out dive down south. My wife wants to go to Miami Fl but I have since talked her to goto the Keys. I have never been past Miami. Is there anyone who can recommend any travel agency or know of any hotels/motels that are good to stay and also a good shop to do my dives with? Thinking about going with an all inclusive deal if there are any out there?

Key West or Key Largo?

I did that last year, there are pros and cons to Key Largo and Key West. I took my wife down as well who does not dive. Key West would have been a better option for her, more to see and do while I was off diving plus once I got back there is not as much to do in Key Largo for her. She had a great time (5 days away from the kids and no cooking, cleaning etc) but if you are looking for activities that don't involve diving and fishing, Key Largo is more limiting.
Key West on the other hand doesn't seem to have be as great a dive area. I'm going purely off what I've read here because I haven't dove from Key West. Longer boat rides, fewer shops, etc. But lots more to do during SI.
As for ops, do a search, tons of threads with lots of opinions. Go down to the Florida Conch Diver's forum, the locals will give you all the info you need and might even get you a good package.

Problem with Key West is it is turning into anytown USA and loosing a lot of its flavor... still IMO better than Miami.

I like Key Largo for diving. Spend a day in Key West with your wife. For check-out dives I recommend Conch Republic. Took the non-diving wife with me on my last trip to Key Largo. She had a good time.

I have dove with Sea Dwellers several times. Great operation.
