Was there Satuday - 50 at the surface, 43 at 55 feet. They are making some interesting improvements. Concrete pads off to the left side of the entrance, replacing the BBQ grills throughout with new ones. Glad to see the commitment to improving the place.

I have seen this thread come up a couple of times and want to ask a question. I will be going to Rawlings in mid May with friends and was wondering about water temps to be expected. If you could help I would be grateful. B T W , who is Kevin ?

Water temps 50s - low 60 if you're lucky with warm weather between now and then. Kevin is one of the owners and a {fill-in the blank} guy. It's a professional operation that is putting money into their operation this spring.

For any of y'all who are interested, I was at Rawlings on Thursday. The surface temp was a bit colder than expected - only 47 degrees. The bottom was about 43 degrees.
Visibility was phenomenal ~75-100 feet by my instructor's estimate (I always stink at estimating visibility so I always defer to someone else).

Also, they are bulldozing a few trees and preparing for the upcoming season, so it should look a bit different this year.

p.s. I am now a certified dry suit diver!!!!!! Very exciting. Now all I have to do is come up with $2000 to buy one :D

Spady,

Hey what dive shop did you use. All the dive shops that I have looked at require you to have your own dry suit. I have been interested in taking the class but I was hoping to get to use a dry suit or two and then look at some of the pros and cons before dropping 1-2 grand.

You should look into DUI Rally at Dutch Springs in May (15ish) for $10 plus rawling admission you get to try any of their suits and undergarments, and if not DS qualified will be escorted in the water by DM or Inst. Great place to see what DS are like.

Look around at the Local LDS's For a used one, I got a great one used !!!

Do many DUI TLS 350's show up used locally? I guess the time to really buy it is after it's warm enough that no one needs them.

I've got a small (slowly growing) list of used gear I'd like to find.

I use my drysuit locally all year long, just wear different undies.
But I also tend to hit the deeper, therefore colder sites, during the summer.
