What is it? Seen in Boynton beach, 60' over a reef, football shaped, roughly 10" x 8". I assume it was brought up from the deep during an upwelling. The membrane was incredibly delicate, I accidently ruptured it just by swimming near it.

What it looks like is a parrot fish 'cocoon' - but I really have nothing beyond appearance and your description of its diaphanous quality to base that on...
