Please read through the 22-page discussion to see why. It has been discussed, and many, many reasons have been provided.

For you, it does not. This thread has quite thoroughly described a number of reasons why for many, the need exists. I think many have learned from this thread......

For some reason every time the OP posts, I support the idea less.

So your objection to the idea is based on who is proposing it, or how they are doing so? And not on the idea itself??

That seems close to saying X is a dumb idea because person Y is proposing it. We try to not do that type of thing.

I don't object to the idea, per se.

Some recent posts have clarified it's validity.

Many SB'ers, myself included, are analytical types, and what I am getting from a number of posts is that it drives us crazy that we are unable to wrap our heads around this by the logical sort of analysis we apply to other problems. I accept that there is no logic to it. Paradoxically, "diversity" nowadays often appears to mean a group of sub-groups. Maybe it's natural that people want to divide themselves into sub-groups? Maybe we will see an increasing demand for sub-forums? As I said many posts ago, it seems almost inherent that we "straight white males" or whatever are unable to see the issues the way those who perceive a need for a sexual orientation-based, gender-based, or even race-based sub-forum apparently do. I have never seen a "stink eye" given to a diver, but that is probably because I am oblivious. I would think travel advice could be sought on a general travel forum, as the same issues would arise whether the travel is scuba-related or not. I think we who cannot understand need to give up the logical analysis and just accept that we will never understand. I'm not going to let it bother me that I cannot understand.
