Has anyone done the Burma trip with The Smiling Seahorese out of Ranong, Thailand? We are thinking about 7D/6N Burma trip with Black Rock included. Any advice or your impressions are appreciated.

Don't know the boat in person. Just checked, reviews are good but in general, especially for Burma, I would prefer to be on a bigger boat. I think this one is too small for diving in a remote area. On the other side, only 12 divers is tempting.

Hi all, sorry I am not on Scuba board much... but just stumbled upon your question from 2017 and though other readers might as well and would want to have fresh info.

I'm glad to let you know that The Smiling Seahorse has a new larger vessel which we designed and built at the end of 2018. MV Smiling Seahorse now welcomes up to 16 divers in full comfort (air con, ensuite bathrooms, photo- rooms and spacious common grounds). A steel hull with 2 powerful engines makes it also a lot more able to explore remote location :)
Our team is still the same though so we are keeping small groups (jumping 4 by 4 is more than enough in mya opinion) and our unmatched knowledge of the area.
What changed? We barely ever go to Thailand anymore preferring to be the specialist about Myanmar.
Try a liveaboard diving holiday in Myanmar in 2020/2021
