As I mentioned the Halo and the G-250 V are the same regulator. I don't know if there are any Halcyon dealers near you but I would call Extreme Exposure as they are both a Halcyon and Scubapro dealer and ask them for the price on each cover. Pick the cheaper of the two.

While people are hating on the cover, my question is why did they change it? It would seem cheaper to leave it as is. There could be some improvements in the cover that we are not aware of.

To make more money? It's newer so it "must" be better? But of course you could be right Andy. Seems lots of manufacturers change the clothes and increase the price with little to no actual improvements. I'll email Halcyon.

If they wanted to make more money, they should make it look like a regulator and not plumbing supplies. Both models are now hideous. Only the US Army could f-ck something so obvious up so badly. I am so glad I listened to my spider-sense and grabbed mine off eBay late last year at that sweet price.

Halcyon is a "technical" diving gear company. The improvements could be something like a better ability to field strip underwater. I am sure if it looks ugly to us, it must look ugly to them also. These people are not stupid.

You could be right, although beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. It does look like it would be easier to remove the face plate.

Remember Halcyon did dispense with the stupid spline jam nut. That is an improvement to me.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but I am sure they would have used a focus group to look at the new regulator. Even if it was just their friends.

  • Cheer up Halcyon....
