I keep my cards in a couple places. When I got my nitrox PADI screwed up and sent me two cards. They said I could just send one back. Right? Screw you. Same number, same info, I'm keeping both as back ups. One in the logbook cause there are some PADI shops staffed by morons who won't consider my NAUI Helitrox or TDI Nitrox INSTRUCTOR card as good enough to get the voodoo gas. And one with all my other cards in the file at home. I have 7 SDI Instructor Cards for the various things I can teach. One CMAS instructor card. And one SEI instructor card that covers me for all classes I can offer up through DM/AI.

I think I'm good as long as I don't dive with an idiot shop.

Actually not true. Any Padi pro can do a dive check for you. With out having to go through the motions of getting a replacement.

You don't even have to be a Padi pro. You can just use the Padi website. Takes about 10 seconds.

I use MacDive on my Mac, and it has provisions for storing photos of your C card (front and back). It then synchronizes with DiveLog on the iPhone, so you can view the C cards from there, too. So far I've always shown the physical C card, but I may try doing it off the phone and see what happens.

Keep us posted on how that works. I may need to look into that.
