I'm still diving wet but would like to transition over to doubles. Does anyone dive double LP85 with a wet suit? It does not offer much over AL80s unfortunately. Only about 3.5 cf. Are there any other alternatives that are safe and balanced with a wetsuit?

Cylinder Pressure (psi) True Air Capacity (ft3) Dia (in) Ht (in) Wt(lbs) Buoyancy Full : Emp (lbs)
LP-85 (Faber 13) 2640 ≈ 81.1 7.01 25.98 31.2 -3.80 : 2.32
F7 Steel HP100 3442 ≈ 101.3 7.25 25.3 34.0 - 8.4 : - 0.6
Aluminum 80 3000 ≈ 77.6 7.25 26.1 31.9 - 1.8 : + 3.2

At least carry a lift bag in case you have a wing failure.

how thick is the wetsuit?

a 1-3mm skin is fine because there's so little compression buoyancy loss

a 7mm is an issue because once you are deeper (ie wanting/needing doubles) your buoyancy is lost from compression and you have 15lbs of gas in the tanks too

The thickness of the wetsuit only matters if you need to add lead. If you're in a 1mm and don't require any extra lead, you would actually be more overweighted than if you were in a 7mm and didnt need extra lead. In the 1mm you would be just as heavy, you just would be heavy at depth and at the surface.

Am i misinterpreting?

AL80s preferable until you’re in a drysuit

Keep in mind that the buoyancy of the Faber LP85 is without a valve. With a valve they are neutral to just a tad positive when empty.
