From David Choy, one of the owners of M/Y Tristar in the Philippines (Tubbataha reef) I received this message of a terrible accident with their vessel:

After 23 years in operation, we regret to inform you that last September 28, 2006 due to Typhoon Milenyo that hit Manila our M/Y TRISTAR sank off the breakwater in Manila Bay. We had 6 crew members aboard. They abandoned ship at around 1:45 pm on Thursday and were found and picked up by fishermen the following day at around 7:00am. Unfortunately only 5 of our crew were picked up and 1 remains missing up to this date and is presumed dead.

We are currently still searching for the Tristar so that we can assess the situation and we hope that in the near future we can re-build the Tristar and continue the dream of sharing the beauty of the Philippines.

So sorry to hear that. I was on the Tri Star in 94. It was a first class operation and Geggie (spelling?) Choy made us all feel right at home the whole time.

David,

Our hearts go out to the family of the crew member lost. Please keep us posted.
