Can any recomend a dive magazine that has good non-bias equipment reviews ?

ScubaLabs - ScubaDiving's test lab - is supposed to be mostly bias-free.

It's discussed in a thread from last year here: http://www.scubaboard.com/forums/regulators/239116-tests-reviews-done-magazine.html

One thing I do like about them is that in addition to reviewing similar products all at the same time, they also publish their findings in chart form so you can form your own conclusions.

Granted it's only based on manufacturer's participation. For example, ScubaPro refused to send any gear to be tested a few years ago - so their lack of participation could bias results in some areas.

At one time ScubaLabs was talking of buying SB gear locally to compare - not sure if they do that now - I haven't looked at the reviews in awhile as I've not bought anything major recently.

I like DiveTraining..low on ads which I like.

Agree. Definitely the best dive magazine subscription I have. :coffee:

My beef isn't bias, it's filtering. Almost any review is of a focused group. Like the best new regulators of 2010, who says any were superior to all the prior models that are still on the market? Being all inclusive is impractical so the reviews are just data points.

Also some brands that you may really want to be aware of eschew the process.
