Many people on this and other sites have been concerned about Malapascua , in view of the fact that it seemed to be right in the middle of the worst hit area.

One of the dive shops , Thresher Shark Divers , has just put on its Facebook page that sadly many local peoples homes have been destroyed or badly damaged. However they say that everybody out there is OK , which is good news...however there seems to have been massive damage to the island and peoples homes ....not great news in a country where there seems to be no state safety net.

Thresher Shark Divers and others fund raising to assist the Typhoon victims on Malapascua. First food shipment last week. Looking for chainsaws at the moment in Cebu.
