I would love to go.. but $70 boat ride.. $7 a fill x 4 so $28.. $30 parking... $x on food.. even though the show is $10 which is a great deal. I cant afford it. Why not do one in San Diego?

Hi Ulfhedinn,

We have done events in San Diego. One issue is getting a 'permit' for the event. This has been a problem. I sent your note on to Faith Ortins who does the event scheduling. Last year we had one planned. At the last minute we had to switch locations and the La Mesa Community Center graciously welcomed us. It was fun. Catalina has such amazing diving... AMAZING.

BTW I heard that AAA members can get a discount on the ferry ride. I believe they need to purchase in advance though.

Thank you,

I have to admit! I love diving Catalina. Thanks for the AAA info. I will have to look into it. I still hope to go this year... just have to get creative with the $$. Damn bills

Oh I hear you. My next sport/hobby is going to be less expensive

When you look at the price of other options such as entry to Disneyland, it isn't as bad as it seems... but as a starving divebum, I'm sure glad I LIVE out here and don't have to take a boat to dive the island's waters. Of course, if I want to go to Disneyland, I face the same issues you "Big Islanders" do coming here.

Looking forward to influx of those who "dive dry" (even if it isn't with Dr. Bill." Susan's dad has a few of my "Dive Dry" DVDs... I should give her one.
