I own, and have at times used these 2, O2 clean Mares Proton V16 first stage regulators in warm to chilly water in the mid 40's with no real issues on deco bottles of freeze-ups. Not being a Pro Scuba Gear Tech, I was wondering the process for Environmentally Sealing these 2 first stages for use in colder waters. I am assuming it is going to be a 'wet' fill such as Christo-Lube-?? Is there any printed materials that might walk me threw this process? Thanks for any input.

I'm not 100% positive, but I think the V16 may have a cold water kit available for it, which consists of a body, diaphragm and ring nut.... also think it uses silicone oil. Someone else who knows for sure will probably chime in if I'm wrong.

Best wishes.

I've never seen Mares use Christolube...they either use a clear silicone liquid filled dry sealed kit or a new generation dry sealed kit with no liquid/grease whatsoever. I've got an older Mares RUBY that a few years ago I had upgraded to the liquid filled kit...then just this year I had the liquid filled kit swapped out for a 'real' dry sealed (modern) kit, as liquid filled cold water kits are pretty old-school. Greg Barlow or Zak O Hara on the Mares manufacturers forum can give you the options/parts #'s if you post over there.
