Missing Shutter Relase Spring

My DX-860g "froze" up on me during my last dive.

I've diagnosed the problem, but need help with the solution.

The housing shutter release no longer springs back. If I press the shutter release lever, it just stays in place - partially depressing the shutter release on the camera itself and preventing the zoom controls from working.

I can't see any metal spring or elastomer in the housing, or any place for one.

Am I missing a replaceable part?
