Came across to this little octopus at the Pompano Drop Off yesterday. Upon closer look it has 2 blue rings instead of multiple as the regular blue ringed octo but read it has the same toxins. Anyone seen these in South FL?

Also found this Scubaboard post from 2009.

Claim of blue ringed octopus in Florida. Can't be, right?

Probably invasive species like the lionfish..

Virtually every fish common in the marine aquarium hobby has been found in FL waters. People buy fish that grow too big for their aquariums. As a way of dealing with them, these people "free" them in FL waters. We get the same problems with reptiles. Now, blue ringed octopus are not really available th the average hobbiest or even determined deranged ones. Scientific institutions can get them. But the numbers in the US are almost certainly very small and one would hope the researchers would not be deranged enough to release dangerously venomous marine life. So hopefully, theses critters are not in FL waters.

Your background music is quite captivating, and a great choice for this video. Artist and title please?

Hans Zimmer or Atticus Ross, perhaps? I've got to get this track, whatever it is.

Thanks! The music piece is 'Airglow' by Stelladrone.. I like his music too..space music..fits the underwater scenes..

It's the camera/macro mode; was about the size of my hand, maybe a little bigger (look at the damsel at 1:20 for comparison.) Also what other octopus has a single blue ring under his eye? I'm open for suggestions.

When he swims away you can clearly see the striped camouflage too.
I haven't seen a lot and I'm not a specialist but it seems too big for me too. Like 2x too big. :)
