Looks like a well designed compact rig. The photos are nice, but it looked like the (professional?) photographer had problems with focus on the super macro shots because of a very short depth of field. Anyone else get that impression?

shot with a diopter so possibly the reason the DOF was limited?

Actually I loved the limited depth of field. This is the reason I have bought this camera, the ability to get the subject to stand out by having an out of focus background. Almost no compact can do this.

They were using a 8X plus a 5X close up lens with some of the shots. That will give you a razor thin plane of focus no matter what camera you use.
