Thinking about a kayak to use in the back bays on the gulf side. Some
fishing and just paddling is all I really have planned for now. I found an older used
Necky Manitou 13 for around 350 bucks. I've read some pretty good reviews on
this kayak. I was wondering if there is any strong preference for the sit on versus
sit in kayaks ? I like the looks of the Prowler Trident 13 Angler but not sure I would
use it enought for quite a bit more money. I believe this Manitou 13 is the sit in type
of kayak. Thanks in advance for any comments.

Well, upon learning that the sit-insides are not suitable for diving I have
re-directed my search toward the sit-on-tops. I've narrowed it down to
the Wilderness Tarpon 140 or the Prowler Trident Angler 15. Everyone seems
to have varying opinions on the tracking and ease of paddling on different kayaks.
The Wilderness Tarpon 140 is a bit heavier than the Trident 15 Angler by about 10 lbs.
The storage area seems comparable. The new Tarpon 140 has a rail along the
inside seating area that could be useful for mounting accessories. I'm going to try to
find an OC Trident 15 to rent and see how it feels.
