I think the all-inclusive resort to Utila takes away from the true experience of the island. The magic of the island is the quiet, relaxed atmosphere and the friendly, interesting people you meet. I would guess you miss a lot of the authenticity of Utila staying at a resort. I would recommend finding a nice hotel ($35 a night) and experiencing the local atmosphere instead of separating yourselves to an isolated part of the island. If relaxation and escape from the hubub of everyday life is your motivation, you do not have to run to a resort to find it. Try the Sandy Bay Beach House right next to the beach and Ecomarine dive shop. Both out of the center of town but also close enough to really experience Utila. Save yourself some money and experience the REAL UTILA.
