Hello, just making an intro post after having lurked SB avidly for the past 2 months. My gf and I just finished our OW certification yesterday in Rockport, MA. We're completely psyched at having a whole new world to explore (and lobsters to catch, for my part).
Just a shout-out here: We took our class (and bought most of our gear) at Mass Diving in Natick. They are a great bunch of folks there with a lot of accumulated New England diving experience. Laura (our instructor and the store manager) was super patient and just a lot of fun to learn from. They made the purchasing experience fun and educational despite the rather large wad of our savings we had to part with (yikes). We're planning to dive regularly (starting next week) with their shore diving program to get familiar with all the good dive sites on Cape Ann and other local places - seems like a good way to get started.
I've picked up a lot of great tips on this board so far and look forward to exploring many of the specialty forums as our dive experience increases.
