Did we decide if we only dive the best titanium regulators, or only the best polycarbonate regulators (second stages, generally), or heaven forbid the best steel regulators? I need to be up on the best practices.

any further replies in either direction are pointless...

As are your posts in the DIY forum. We have this forum to explore ideas, concepts and whatever else we want to take upon ourselves for ourselves. You can't handle that, kindly refrain from participating in a manner inconsistent with the objectives of this forum.

As for Gear Standards...read...UCSC Standards for Diving Equipment...

USCS Standards 3.26:
3.26 Flotation Devices
A. Each diver shall have the capability of achieving and maintaining positive buoyancy, independent of the
exposure suit.
B. Personal flotation systems, buoyancy compensators, dry suits, or other vari
able volume buoyancy
compensation devices shall b
e equipped with an exhaust valve.
C. These devices shall be functionally inspected and tested at intervals not to exceed twelve months.

Seems like it fits the standards to me?

Maybe northernone's post providing a link to DIY rebreathers will make Warren's head explode and he will avoid this sub-forum in future.
