Yes, it was one of the calm days. There are only a couple of reefs on the outside, and then next stop is Iceland, so we do have a bit of swell sometimes.

I can imagine. This is Laminaria hyperborea, and the stipe can be up to some 3m tall. Then the fronds spread out more or less horizontally, almost forming a roof. Going down through the roof and swimming under the algae leaf ceiling is quite cool. The large specimens are usually found at medium exposed sites close to the open ocean, where they can get a good supply of nutrients. In more sheltered waters, they don't become so large, and in exposed waters they're broken off and washed away by the winter storms.
