This year's North Coast Party surpassed all previous.

Held at the Albion River Campground last week (Thursday the 22nd through Sunday the 26th), it featured awesome diving conditions, good weather, a bountiful ocean, great music, delicious food and - as always - it's very own Tiki Bar. The best part, of course, is the wonderful fellowship of divers and their families.

The ocean was pretty flat of the NCP and was fairly clear (vis up to 30-40') and its usual cold (48F). The hunters were successful in bringing in a bounty for the camp. We had lings, cabs, rockfish, abalone, tuna and gooseneck barnacles.

Food this year was even better and more spectacular than in years past. It featured all sorts of camp-made treats, such as onion soup, miso soup, Albion bouillabaisse, chicken tortilla soup, corn chowder, potstickers, steamed dumplings, steamed rockfish with ginger and abalone mushrooms, various smoked cheeses, beer battered ling cod, scallops in a white wine, garlic, butter reduction, albacore sashimi, sautéed abalone, gooseneck barnacles, glazed tuna belly, Asian pork ribs, southern pork ribs, Kalua pig, various sausages, pearl couscous, grilled Portabellos, asparagus and peppers, chocolate cake with raspberry filling and ganache frosting and fresh raspberry and ganache ice cream. (I'm sure I'm missing many great dishes.)

The focal of the NCP was again the Tiki Bar, now featuring a new thatched roof and colorful lighting. Bartender Andy has been working on new signature NCD Tiki Drinks and came up with the Toxic Bloom. Experimentation will continue on the quest for a perfected Landlord Calling. Meanwhile, North Coast brews, Alexander Valley wines and pomegranate fizzes, as well as homemade grappa kept the party going for the long weekend.

We even had old Sea Hunt episodes projected on the side of an RV, so Mike Nelson was there, too!

Here's a video featuring photos and video from this years event.
