Port closing is based upon wind direction. Wind from North or North West above 10 Knots will close port so no diving.

A good reference is Windguru - Mexico - Cozumel

Reef closings are only the most southern reefs. There are plently of reefs open.

Some dive ops don't even go there when they are open since it is far South and burns alot of fuel to get there. Also slower boats may not have travel that far.

1st timers and newer divers would not go to advanced sites like Maracaibo, Punta Sur... but may have done Palancar and Columbia.

So basically anything South of Palancar is closed but as you see here, alot is open

Nice. Unofficial November 19 Roll Call :) I was wondering why there was no dedicated thread. Flying in on the 16th. Diving 17th - 23rd with Tres Pelicanos. Can't wait.
