Wingy: Sorry to hear that there is another shark fatality in Australia yesterday :(
But am glad to know that:
WA Fisheries will let West Australians track sharks in real-time without O$$earch :D

Also, just confirmed from another shark expert on a Facebook group that GWS will swim through kelp (so am not sure why the shark barrier is designed to look like kelp), however the new shark barrier trailed in SA also has a magnetic or electro component to it. Although it has not been used on main beaches, sea trials are underway and some exclusion trials will be conducted next year. Spear fishermen have reported especially smaller GWS swimming through kelp.
