In the UK we have a TV programme called the apprentice and I think you have something similar in USA. Its when a group of would be entrepreneurs compete for an investment and one gets fired after each task until a winner is found. One of the tasks was purchasing in a foreign location (Malta) and one of the things they had to purchase was an "octopus with a 4 ft hose". One of the teams, who did not know about scuba visited fresh fish shops and bought a cephalopod with as near 4 ft tentacles as they could measure. I think the shop owner was a bit puzzled as they are usually sold by the Kg.
 
We used to have a show in the U.S called The Apprentice that was run by some.....oh wait, that's more appropriate in The Pub.....
