Kyle,
Actually there are several dive spots besides Lake Erie. Any of the dive shops in Columbus will know of and be able to give you directions to all of them.

There is also a book I have of sites in Ohio, PA, WV, and IN. Check with Sub Aquatics in Reynoldsburg. I think one of their owners wrote the book and they may have copies for sale.

This summer I hope to do more dives in Lake Erie but that is some very cold water for me (50 degrees) with my old wetsuit. My usual quarry dives are in Gibsonburg, OH (Whitestar) and Gilboa. You are welcome to join us, if you like.

Regards,

Pixurman--

Thanks. When it warms up my sons and I might like to join you sometime. Twin Quarries is the only place we have been around here. I guess it is good to work on your skills, and it is always fun...but a little on the boring side to go there every time. I'll contact you as it warms up.

I logged 53 degrees at 72 feet in Lake Erie in July.

The Guarries I dive can get into the high 40's down deep but 50's is usual.

Regards,

Today the water temp at Gilboa was 38 degrees at 36 feet. My buddy's dry duit boot sprung a leak and that ended the dive early.

In the Summer, we dive a lot in wet suits. And it is not bad.

Check out this web page. It is a boat out our Port Clinton. It goes to several wrecks that are not too deep and the water warms up on them nicely in the Summer.

Another Lake Erie Charter boat that goes out of Barcelona, NY can be checked out at

http://www.osprey-dive.com.

This boat does the deeper Eastern Lake Erie Wrecks and is pretty much for dry suits year around (in my humble opinion anyway). It is set up nicely for diving. The charter goes to several deep, deep wrecks if you are into that, but also does some wrecks in the 90 to 100 foot range.

I was surprised, it only took us 4 hours to get to the boat
from Toledo.

Gilboa Quarry is a great place to dive. I have went there about every weekend since 2001 began. There is alot of structure there including a semi trailer and a school bus. Also mike the owner has a lot of fun events planned for the upcomming summer. check out there website at http://www.divegilboa.com and plan a trip there. I have been diving with a couple of instructors from toledo and they are taking me to whitestar quarry on the first of april when they open for the season. Good diving to all Jeff from the great lakes
