Body of missing diver, 18, found after overnight search in Murcia
The body of a missing diver, 18, has been found on a beach in Aguilas, Murcia, after an overnight search.
DIVERS from the Special Group of Underwater Activities of the Guardia Civil recovered the deceased’s lifeless body on Sunday morning, July 12, after an air and sea search.

The Emergency Coordination Centre 112 received a call at 9.28pm on Saturday, July 11, warning there were two people having trouble getting out of the water off the coast of Matalentisco.

A 30-year-old male was rescued and attended by 061 health personnel at the scene.

A search party involving 30 Local Police officers and Civil Protection set about trying to find the missing teenager, with the help of a General Directorate of Emergencies helicopter, Guardia Civil vessels, Red Cross and Maritime Rescue.

As the search progressed, the air rescue group from the Fire and Rescue Consortium of the Region of Murcia and divers from the Special Group of Underwater Activities of the Guardia Civil were called in.

The young man’s body was found at 10.08am near Cape Rocoso, south of Cocon beach, on the coast of Aguilas.
